CELEBS LOVE MANOLO, BUT I DON’T

Author: MARLEAUX | Files under Celeb Looks Revealed

Young celebrities seem to be infatuated with Manolo Blahniks. Actress Rashida Jones arrived at the premiere of “I Love You, Man” held at the Mann’s Village Theater wearing an Azzedine Alaia dress with well placed lace inserts, paired with Manolo Blahnik Pepe heels. Reality star Vanessa Simmons wore hers with a gray coat dress to the Undrcrown Party Featuring Mos Def in Las Vegas. And lastly, singer Rihanna wore hers with a Elizabeth and James get-up to Da Silvano in New York City.

Now these Manolos Blahnik Pepe sandals are A, OK, with me, most aren’t. They retail at Barney’s for $745.00 and are available in flesh, black and white.

Whitney Port attended a bacheloret party at TAO Las Vegas wearing a leather skirt and Manolo’s.

Her Manolo Blahnik Anaz Sandals are available for $1,150.00 $459.00.

I suppose that these are the sandals that Whitney purchased from Manolo himself, while shopping with Olivia on an episode of The City. I remember almost wanting to throw my laptop at the tv when Olivia pointed out that Whitney hadn’t owned a pair of MB, while Olivia had been wearing them since she was 15. Well, that’s nice, as they were probably the hot sh!t way back then. But in 2009, they’re usually meant for the cougars. You know, the ones who are still obsessed with Sex & the City episodes and haven’t moved on to more trend-breaking premiere cobbler designs such as Pierre Hardy, Christian Louboutin and Giuseppe Zanotti.

The Blahnik brand has admitted to never following trends, and it seems as though there faults are catching up with the company. Well, I hadn’t heard of any plumetting sales, but my assumption is strictly from the lack of MB presence on the red carpet. And besides, who wants to pay an average of $800 for these…

Barneys

And unlike the youngins above, who wore rare pairs of fabulous Manolos, Teairra Mari went the opposite route.

This is Mary Poppins dream shoe, not something a 20-something should pair with a Hever Leger…

…I claim to be so anti-fashion, but I looove your site. This post was entertaining to say the least. I don’t, and probably never will own a pair of Blahniks. I do own an array of shoes and kicks ranging from Aldos to Nikes to Beverly Feldmans, but I dont think any of them are as fugly as that striped slingback (2nd in, top row) in that group pic of The Blahniks. I’ll be all kinds of damned if my card swiped off 8 c notes for that…

I love this post! I have the funds for Manolos, but not the feet. Who makes hot shoes for women with flat feet???
