Vanessa Simmons attended the 40th NAACP Image Awards pre-show gala at the Creative Artists Agency on February 11, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. She wore a two-layer, high-waist skirt with horizontal stripes along the top layer and polka-dots littering the bottom layer. Her white oxford shirt contained constructed fabric details along the bodice. She paired the items with a gold link & white pearl necklace, cropped leather jacket and open-toe booties.
While we love Daddy’s Girls star, Vanessa Simmons, we can’t say that we love this look as a whole. As individual pieces, they all are must-buys. The skirt, it’s a bit different, as it’s both voluminous and includes a high waist-usually high-waist skirts are slim and sleek. But the skirt can work, with a more simple top.. And the necklace wouldn’t have gotten lost and seemed unnecessary, as it does with the current top.
And the L.A.M.B. Hip Signature Booties were the wrong choice for the ensemble. As the booties are already contain a color-blocked design and is imprinted with multiple “L.A.M.B.” signature, it’s far to busy for the outfit. Some all black open-toe booties or peep-toes would have been ideal.
I give Vanessa a B- for picking the right pieces, but for pairing them incorrectly. What grade do you give her?
