Try something different – that’s my non-resolution for 2009. If you take a look at each one of my Dress-A-Day entries, they contain mostly the same silhouette of dresses. So for today’s dress, I’m steering far to the left.
The Mandarin Orange Ombre Cocktail Dresses has a lot going on, from the volume, to the blingeage, to the ombre coloring, to the laced back of the corseted top, but I like it. It could do without the
silver beading and laced-up corset, but it’s still a cute look.
And though the dresses’ skirts looks like cake icing, it’s very reminiscent of the current trends in wedding gowns, which is a voluminous bubble-ruffled skirt. So this dress is perfect for the bride’s maids, if the bride wears a more sleek silhouette only. You don’t want too much volume in the wedding party, as everyone couldn’t fit into a panoramic photo…
The dress would also be perfect for prom or a homecoming, as it seems more fit for the young gals.
I would recommend altering the dress though. Have a tailor replace the corset’s lace-up detail with a zipper.
The Mandarin Orange Ombre Cocktail Dress by Alyce Designs retails for $370.00.
