Rihanna attended the Black Eyed Peas Peapod Foundation benefit concert presented by Adobe Youth Voices inside the Conga Room at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on February 5. There, she still tried to represent what I call her Ri-punk style, but in a simple way. Instead of over accessorizing with studded rings and jewels, she opted for a simple skull sweater dress.
The sweater has been receiving not so good reviews around the net, as some people associate the skull symbols as daemonic. Others say the skull print is ‘so last year.’ I agree with the later, but I still like the look.
The black sweater dress contains one skull print in the front. The back was bare; though if the dress would have represented that part of the skull, it would have really been an interesting surprise. The exposed zipper was also a nice touch.
Rihanna finished the look of the dress of with green jeweled bangles and a pair of Christian Louboutin ankle boots.
Rihanna’s Betsey Johnson We Love Skulls dress is available for $325.00 at Betsey Johnson’s online store.
I wouldn’t be suprised if another starlett was seen wearing this dress in the coming weeks. Previously, others have followed Rihanna’s love for Betsey Johnson dresses. Elise Neal, Lil Momma and Angel Love Lola all have been seen in BJ dresses initially worn by Rihanna.
But I can’t blame them. Betsey Johnson designs for girls who love to have fun. Her moderately priced dresses aren’t’ meant for those always needing a label hanging off their shoulders. And her party dresses are known to turn a few heads.
Check out some other BJ looks that Rihanna has worn in the past and vote on your favorite look. Mine, hands down, is the black tone-on-tone polka dot skirt, with the red pumps.
