COACH RISES ABOVE THE RECESSION

Author: MARLEAUX | Files under FASHION

Dispite reports that the economy may be in a recession, Coach is still racking in the dough.  WWD is reporting that Coach’s profits sored 32.9% as a result of a 20% sales hike.  I’m not surprised.  The luxury accessory brand is on it’s way to becoming as popular as the mega-brand Louis Vuitton.  Don’t believe me, just compare the percentage of Coach bags and Loius Vuitton bags that are sold by bootleggers.  Coach is the 2nd most popular bags being sold out the back of vans and in gas station parking lots…

The large profit may also be due to the increase in price of the trendy bags.  The prices have increased over the years, especially with the introduction of the Legacy collection.  Most bags from the collection are limited edition and made from Vintage leather.  The Lily Python Meduim Satchel alone, retails for $3,000.00.

And eventhough Coach’s prices are rising, they still have affordable bags that satisfy the frugal fashionistas.  Coach is every girl’s first name-brand bag, and most develop a dedication to their accessories that remain throughout the years.

Blecker Signature Hip Bag $178.00; Heritage Stripe Demi $198.00; Carly Signature Top Handle Pouch $178.00

I think that’s part of the appeal of the brand.  They can satisfy both ends of the runway.  From the non-paid interns, to the 6-figure making models.

I’m glad to see Coach remains on the map. I remember getting my first on in high school years ago for Christmas. I thought I was the bizness. I love those Legacy bags. Maybe I can save my pennies and get one when the price of gas drops some more.
