Ok, so Sunday was the last day of my vacation. I haven’t seen that 6×6 corduroy covered cubicle since last year. And I have to say I don’t miss it. But I do miss my coworkers.
We had a really big deadline on the last two days before my vacation, which prevented me from preparing for my extra 3 days off from work, a total of 5 days including with New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. So two of my best coworkers and department mates, who share the same position title as I do, stepped in and took the extra work off my desk. Keep in mind, we still have an open position, so they each had to carry double the work last week.
I wanted to give thanks to Bridge and Gab. Today I’ll be nominating them for an award. If you’ve read Lolo’s Cube, you know that I was nominated for not one but two Bronze Medal Awards from upper management. The awards came with a gift certificate value of $250.00. Well, I’ll be nominating my peps for a similar award, but the pier to pier awards aren’t as valuable. I think the max is $50.00.
Before my vacay, I also received another email announcing that I would be receiving another $250.00 gift certificate award. This isn’t as special as the other awards, because it doesn’t specify any accomplishments, but it was given to every North American Finance employee that survided 2007. But I’m not complaining.
So of course I went shopping quite a few times this week. I hit Macy’s more than once. And like with every weekend, they were having a one-day sale. I bought these T Tahari pants. With coupons and the sale, I got 50% off the $118.00 price tag. But I have a problem, I’m 5’2. I don’t have a problem with my height, but it means that I sometimes have to get my pants tailored. But since I am 5’2 and one of the rules for short girls is to not wear cuffed pants. My question is, should I keep the cuffs, or have them sewn flat once I have them tailored?
Here are a few other good sale finds from T Tahari…
Silk Peasant Blouse, $35.40; Belted Crochet Cardigan, $29.99; Patent-Trimmed Tweed Jacket, $68.40; Pintucked Silk Tank Top, $26.40.
But apparently, everything from T Tahari isn’t working girl fab…
Tahari loses points for releasing this fugly cardigan, for a whooping $118.00 at that. Like my mom, I also think that all ugly things should be cheap. And Macy’s loses points for displaying this wrinkled fuglyness. The display is half the sale, unless you’re in the sales area and this it’s marked down 80%.
I also got this baby-doll cowl neck cable knit sweater by Alfani. It’ll be perfect for those “fat” days.
I’ll probably wear it with some skinny black trousers.
But unfortunately, I didn’t see this beauty in the store. I love this dress. It’s perfect for work, and it isn’t season specific.
Silk Floral-Print Belted Dress, $109.00
I’ll be visiting Macy’s this weekend to look for this dress. They’ll probably be having another one-day sale, so maybe I won’t have to pay full price.

I’ve been at mine for 5 years and its been the same. We were acquired by GE and they just implemented this awards program. So before sept, we only received $50 from giftcertificates.com on our anniversary. But to tell you the truth, it feels like I sell my soul to the devil everytime I cash in those gc.
