It’s Party Time

Author: MARLEAUX | Files under FASHION

So now, I know you’ve received various invitations for parties galore. Soon, I’ll receive the invite to my company’s Year End Party. I purposely haven’t bought a thing to wear, because I know a theme would be in place for the party. And the themes are usually so wardrobe specific, that you can’t shop before you receive the invite.

One of our prior themes included Cream. All the table settings and decorations were cream colored and all the attendees who wore cream received a raffle to win a 42′ flat panel TV. I didn’t win; the winners are always in the top pay tier at our company, and unfortunately, I’m still stuck working in a corduroy cube (might not be for long, keep your fingers crossed)…

Another year, we had a “Hollywood” theme. I liked this year in particular. There was a red carpet with paparazzi and an interviewer. At the end of the carpet a Jack Nicholson, Madonna and Marilyn Monroe impersonators were waiting to take photos with each person. Then before you entered, the big bosses handed you a half envelope with $300 cash. Yep, that was a good year.

Last year we had a 70′s theme party and an American Idol talent show. It was cool, but no door prize…

So, I don’t know what the marketing team has in store for this year. We have the date, but haven’t received the official invite with the theme and location. Though I do know it’ll be in the OC this year. So either way, I won’t be feeling the location. But in anticipation of the party, I’ve put together some looks. I hope these beauties fit into the theme…

Architecture inspired…

Jackie O Dress by Black Halo, $306.00; Zera Pump by Maxstudio, $158.95; Rosette Leather Gloves by White House Black Market, $68.00; Faceted Jet Envelope by White House Black Market, $68.00; Black Enamel Large Hoop Earrings by Kenneth Jay Lane, $45.00.

Serena Inspired…

Charmeuse Dress by ABS by Allen Schwartz, $298.00; Graduated Compression Tights by Nordstrom, $20.00; Engaged T-Strap by Charles David, $229.95; Quadruple Curly Belt by Valahian Queens, $225.00; Large Gem Stretch Bracelet by RJ Graziano, $65.00; Metallic Quilted Clutch by Be & D, $417.00.

Garden Inspired…

Floral Silk Halter by Adrianna Papell, $178.00; Metallic Open-Toe d’Orsay by Giueseppe Zanotti, $550.00; Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap, $148.00; Hannah ass="blsp-spelling-corrected">Embossed Frame Clutch by Abas, $190.00; Small Buckle Bracelet by Lauren by Ralph Lauren, $48.00

Ohh! I can’t wait. *checking inbox for invite* Those corporates won’t know what hit them. I suspect half of them won’t even dress up for the party.

I love that Black Halo dress Marleaux…unfortunately all their pieces are too spandex-y for my untoned flesh.

lizard260 – It is cheaper than DVF on your blog… Love your metaphor too. And yes my wallet is bulging with cellulite… I have to buy for all the “Not Me”s in my life…

park avenue – Yes, they are a lot of fun. And the corporates do know how to party, even if they are wearing chinos, company logoed polos and loafers to the party… Well that’s mostly the accounting dept. I guess they have too many numbers floating around their heads to think about style.

Lexyb – For the life of me I can’t find an acceptable bubble bottom dress. I found a few that fit the silhouette, but not worth the buy. And yeah, we’re still rocking open toes out here. It rained last weekend and folks didn’t know how to act. All kinds of accidents happened on the freeway and every1 was dressed for sunny weather. It seems that we don’t even check the weather reports anymore.

Still_pocahontaz – Yeah, I love that last look, it’s so girly and pretty. Thanks for coming by.
