Lolo, The Bronze Medalist…

Author: MARLEAUX | Files under FASHION

So, as a gift for alll my hard work, my boss and grandboss nominated me for the Bronze medal award. The award came with a gift certificate coupon of $250.00. Unlike giftcerticates.com, my company’s gift certificate issuer is very limited. So, I chose Macy’s. I really really wanted a card from my 1st favorite department store, Nordstrom’s, but to no avail, my 2nd favorite, Macy’s had to do.

I hadn’t been shopping lately, and what I needed best was a little retail therapy. I’m usually one who shops weekly, but have put things on hold since xmas is coming, so these certificates were an added bonus to my life.

Initially, I was going to order gift cards that I could use as xmas gifts, use to buy xmas gifts, or sell to someone (sounds ghetto err trifling I know, like someone talking about selling foodstamps…) who was going to shop at that store anyway. But instead I decided to treat myself. That’s the whole point of receiving gift cards in lieu of cash; so that one doesn’t go out and try and spend the money responsibly, but instead on something that may bring some pleasure, joy or excitement into one’s life. So off to Macy’s I went. Those gift cards were seriously burning a whole in my pocket…

My first purchase were these gifts sets…

Be Delicious Be Delightful, By DKNY, $55.00

Michael collection by Michael Kors, $70.00

These were purchased at our first Macy’s stop in the Fox Hill’s Mall. I really really wanted a gray cropped jacket by Nine West, but Fox Hill’s was sold out in my size. So, off we went to our second Macy’s, in Century City, where I purchased these items…

Wide Leg Trousers by Inc., $79.00 $37.00 in store…

Belted Shawl-Collar Cardigan (in brown) by Alfani, $40.99

I know, they’re just regular basics, but it’s needed in every wardrobe, especially for a working girl like me.

I thought it was over after that. My mom and I were starving, so we left from Century City and headed towards the Redondo Beach Pier to Joe’s Crab Shack…

We ate a bar-b-que marinated crab cracking good meal, perfect for post shopping. Then we were back down Artesia Blvd, headed towards the 405 back to LA. And guess what we saw while cruising? None other than the South Bay Galleria… It was only about 7:30, so we had a little more time before the mall closed.

I found myself in the third Macy’s of the day. Again, no luck on the Nine West jacket. But, there was a Nordstrom’s, so I decided to try my luck there, but still nothing. But I did buy these pants…

Bree’s Cuffed Trouser by Semantiks, $88.00

At the end of the day, I was a little disappointed with my purchases. I didn’t buy anything that wasn’t similar to what’s already in my closet. I’ve decided to set the bar of my purchases a little higher, and to not purchase anything that wouldn’t stand out in a crowd. But I was sooo anxious to buy something, in lieu of not getting the jacket I wanted, I ended up buying a bunch of “just okay” items. But, it is laundry time, and I had already missed the cleaners, so I wouldn’t have anything to wear to work until I picked up my laundry, so it all worked out…

When I came home later that night, I got on the ‘net to look for my beloved jacket, but still nothing. I went to the Nine West, Macy’s and Nordstrom’s site, and couldn’t even find a picture.

But since I have a little bit of value left in my gift card and still have that unsatisfied shopping bug, check out some items I’ve been contemplating purchasing…

Silk Keyhole-Tie Tank Top by MICHAEL Michael Kors, $79.50

Cuffed Wide-Leg Pant by MICHAEL Michael Kors, $26.85 (OK, I’m ordering these pants now… no joke, the pants just went on sale)

Corgi Ankle Boot by Max Studio, $159.00

Opera Length Gloves at Nordstrom’s, $148.00

paired with

Metallic Blouson-Sleeve Top by Inc., $59.00

Silk Bubble Dress With Flower Detail by A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz, $217.50

Snap-Front Coat With Hood by Esprit, $150.00

Layered-Look dress by Calvin Klein, $111.00

Cap-Sleeve Dress by Maggy London, $149.00

Yeah, I need these items now…

*Edit* Side Note: Inc at Macy’s now carries a size 16. So if you’re thicker than most, try adding a little Inc to your wardrobe. I’m super happy about this, because they’re pants run a little “slim”. Now, I don’t get that thigh pinching in the new size.

Well, I might pick the ankle boots if you were gonna use them in the next six months ;-P Cute picks.

I know, I know… Such a travesty… But I think they’d still be wearable. But I haven’t found them in the store to try the fit, well, at least on my right foot. I’ve never tried any of that brand’s shoes, so I don’t know about comfort. Maybe I’ll wait until they go on sale, and then seriously think about buying.
