Hello Bogging World,
Well, as you can see, my name is Marleaux (pronounced Marlo) Nichelle. I’m named after Nichelle Nichols of Star Trek and Marlo Thomas of That Girl; two independent ladies of 70′s TV. Though I’m not anal about it, I do usually need to correct the pronunciation of my name. If I didn’t, I would be Marla, Margo or Michelle, for the rest of my life. Though for 6 months as I worked as a temp-to-perm at my current job, I was Margo. It wasn’t until I interviewed for a permanent position, that my boss saw that my name contained an L and not a G. I didn’t care; I just wanted to be hired…
I created this blog because I wanted to liberate all the thoughts that revolve in my mind while I’m “trapped” in my cubicle from 9-5. Well, actually from 8-10 (OT baby, too much of it actually, but more savings shopping money). I’ve always thought of myself as a creative person, but it gets a little stifled since I have no outlet, and spend most of my time shuffling papers. So now I have Lolo’s Cube: my outlet to the world, from this 6X6 space surrounded by corduroy walls.
From the articles I’ve read and the conversations I’ve had with people who’ve read these same articles, I’ve learned that a blogger should stick to one subject, until they develop an audience, then branch out into other areas, if they choose to do so. Well, I just can’t do that… If you know me, you know that I talk a lot. I mean really, stop avoiding eye contact. I’ve admitted it, so don’t bit your lip. I don’t shut up, and can jump subjects without leeway. So instead of talking your ear off, read me at your leisure.
I have two super powers: 1) determining the designer of any piece of clothing or accessory and 2) finding the humor in anything. Don’t get me wrong, if I see you stumble and fall, I’ll wait to ensure that you’re okay before I bust my gut laughing at your tragic fall. And as you gain your footing and composure I’ll notice that you’re carrying the new Chloe bag and have to give you your props.
